Taps Wine and Beer Merchants Set to Open in Early April

Tampa, Fla. - (March 1, 2008) - The first retail establishment to open at SkyPoint downtown will be Taps Wine and Beer Merchants, an upscale bar and eatery catering to urbanites looking for an experience unlike any other in Tampa. It is expected to open in early April.

"We're looking forward to welcoming Taps to SkyPoint," said Greg Minder, president of intowngroup, which is a partner in the SkyPoint development. "The unique Taps concept is a great complement to SkyPoint, where residents have chosen a place to live that offers an urban and cosmopolitan lifestyle."

With a combination of beautiful design and casual elegance, Taps offers its guests the opportunity to relax, gather with friends, and enjoy an unmatched selection of beer and wine. This includes 30 beers on tap and a total of more than 300 beers from around the world by the bottle, plus 56 wines on tap and more than 100 wines by the bottle.

"Taps is a concept designed to celebrate the passion for beer and wine, using variety and technology as entertainment. The goal is to encourage our guests to experience our diverse collection of beer and wine," said James DeVito, owner.

The physical space is divided into two sections, one focused on wine, the other focused on beer. This design allows for distinct motifs celebrating each venue separately while maintaining the ability for customers to mingle. "We've imported our wine equipment from Italy to provide a one-of-a­kind system for our patrons. Guests are equipped with a 'Taps Card' which offers the freedom to explore wines by the ounce, half glass or full glass. Our guests can try wines that may otherwise be cost prohibitive. There aren't many places you can buy one ounce of a $300 bottle of wine."

All products are all available for on-site consumption, as well as for retail sales.

Taps will be open seven days a week, offering lunch Monday through Friday. Its menu celebrates the finest cheeses from around the world as well as cured meats, gourmet olives, fruit, and bread, all used to create dishes such as paninis, bruschettas, and salads. Its outdoor seating is expected to be a big hit - a lounge area including sofas as well as tables and chairs at the street level of the SkyPoint building. DeVito describes the look and feel of Taps as upscale, with both traditional and modern elements.

"The type of finishings we've used here are far superior to other establishments in the area," said DeVito. "Tampa is going to be blown away."

DeVito is new to the Tampa Bay area, having moved here from New York City about six months ago to start this venture. He was drawn to the area because he sees the growth potential of the city and feels that right now, there are limited options for people looking for this type of establishment.

"The entire design of SkyPoint is focused on creating energy at the street level," said Minder. "Our retail establishments are an important part of that design, and we're looking for businesses that will bring a great vibe to the area. Taps is just the first of several establishments we're excited to bring to SkyPoint for our residents, and for everyone in downtown Tampa."

SkyPoint is a 32-story, 380-unit building at 777 Ashley Drive featuring one and two bedroom homes. The first floor of SkyPoint includes more than 10,000 square feet of retail storefronts.
